As Skills Development Providers (SDPs), your company invests daily in the 4 Phases of Training (Learner Enrolment, Facilitation, Assessment and Certification) in order to retain your Accreditation.
External moderation (Phase 4 – Certification) is therefore an inevitable step in the process and often the step that we as SDPs are most apprehensive about.
Your Portfolio of Evidences are ready; your Learner Files are up to date; your Learning Material is available, and the date is set; however, there are a few administration requirements that many SDPs tend to slip up on.
In accordance with your Quality Management System (QMS), your QMS will be a continuously evolving process and a major formal evaluation will be done every year to ensure the implementation and relevance of the system.
Many SDPs mistakenly think that this is a case of just adding to your policies and procedures although this could not be farther from the truth.
The SETA verifier / external moderator will check that your company has reviewed their policies and procedures by scrutinising the Minutes of the Review at External Moderation.
It is therefore of importance that these signed Minutes of Meetings are filed in your Accreditation File.
Use of the SETA Logo:
Are you aware that most of the SETAs strictly prohibit the use of their Logo without an SDP submitting a written request first?
At External Moderation, many SDPs present their material with their SETA logo on; documents (such as Project Closure Reports and Marketing Brochures) with their SETA logo on; websites with the SETA logo on and so on and so on; however, have never applied to use the SETAs Logo.
The above are just two examples of items which SDPs are unaware of or forget to check prior to external moderation.
At JTandA we offer a host of monthly support and/or post accreditation services to guide, support and Capacity Build SDPs to ensure that they not only obtain but retain their hard earned Accreditation status.
